Michael "Jacko" Jackson

"I started racing in 1985 on a sidecar which only lasted 3 meetings. 1986 raced a production Yamaha LC125 in the Auto 66 club championship. As well as running in the production class I also entered it into the open class with some top 10 finishes. In 1987 I got my first sponsor and he bought me a Honda MT 125 ex phil Mellor bike, finishing that year second in the Auto 66 club championship. 1988 was my first year on a 80cc bike and I ended the season with 26 wins and the championship. In 1989 got a ride with Seabank Racing on the Isle of Man along with Gerry Hughes and Ian Gibson riding a Honda RS 250 had some good results on this bike running up to the Manx GP. At the Manx it was all going well, in practice 2nd quickest to Leslie McMarster, then in the newcomers race ended up retired on the mountain with a blown head gasket. Gutted!."

"In 1990 I went to Ireland to race for Carson Beastie on a Wicks 80cc ex Jamie Whitham bike ending that season 5th in the championship. In 1991 on the same bike was 3rd in the Championship. 1992 Carson got a Huvo Cassal ex GP bike and we went on to finish off the season by taking the championship . Happy days! 1993 I was in Ireland and in England with the 80cc, between 1994 and 2003 winning the British 80cc club championship 7 times. I hung up my leathers in 2005 and had a few years away from the sport before getting involved with Team ILR in 2009 and the rest is a blur."

"PS I did the Manx GP in 2004 & 2005 but only bad luck at both with a broken chain in 2004 and a leaking fuel cap on Matt Jackson's 125 Honda in 2005."
